Huffington Post: Vicki Escarra on the Hunger Fast

As the government deliberates a shut-down, national anti-hunger leaders are  participating in a rolling fast to protest budget cuts to crucial safety-net programs. Feeding America President and CEO Vicki Escarra is joining thousands of advocates as they take a stand against these cuts. CEO Vicki Escarra: Washington Budgets Affect Budgets at Home

February 16, 2011

In the last few days, the House of Representatives and the President released their proposed funding cuts for the 2011 and 2012 federal budgets respectively. In addition to proposed cuts to nutrition programs beginning this year, the proposed cuts to other safety net programs will affect millions of low-income people, making it more difficult for them to feed themselves and their families.
