As a southern transplant, my move to Chicago began with the throw of a dart at a map of the United States.  I planned to stay for only one year, but  then I began working for Feeding America, and ten passed in the blink of an eye.

Over the years, I have had many opportunities to visit food banks and charitable agencies around the country and meet some truly remarkable, hard working people who have to rely on food pantries to help put food on the table. Their steadfastness and positive outlook  inspire me every day to appreciate the good things in my life and to help those who could use a few more in theirs.

Raised in Atlanta, I earned a BA in English from the University of Georgia in Athens. I’m still living in Chicago, the city I’ve grown to love, with my husband and little girl, and one very lazy cat.
