Mark Salling from GLEE helps hungry kids

August 27, 2011

Singer and actor Mark Salling best known for his role as “Puck” on GLEE helped launch the ConAgra Foods Child Hunger Ends Here campaign in Hollywood. This campaign is going to give 5 million more meals to hungry kids in the U.S.

Earlier this week, we released an update to our Map The Meal Gap research study which shows child food insecurity at the county level. It was fitting to have the event in Hollywood which is perceived to be in a rich county but 28.8% of children in Los Angeles County struggle with food insecurity – higher than the national average and the state of California average.

GLEE is one of my favorites show so I was a little nervous. Also, it was over 90 degrees at the event. Mark was a trooper – helping pack 7600 pounds of food for hungry kids in Los Angeles.
