Food boxes sometimes get a bum wrap. People don’t know what is in the food box and sometimes they don’t like what they get. Different tastes or dietary restrictions may limit the use of specific foods in a particular box for a family.

My initial thought for this blog was to muse on the difficulties of summer food in a rural setting. I could tell you that I stare at a map of rural counties, worried that children living twenty miles from the nearest congregate setting will not get the meals they need this summer and I don’t know how to change that. … But I’m not going to do that. What I am going to tell you is about a few successes that mean a lot to me.
