Using Facebook to help out food banks

May 12, 2011

Toyota has a really neat Facebook campaign going on called Toyota 100 Cars for Good.

Nonprofits from across the country submitted videos about how a Toyota vehicle would help them do their work better. 500 finalists were selected including many Feeding America food banks. Each day, Toyota will feature 5 nonprofits on Facebook and the one that gets the most votes will win a vehicle for their program.

I spoke with Ryan Farmer of the St. Louis Foodbank who said they would be using the vehicle to do outreach in their large, 26-county area. This outreach would include reaching out to feeding programs as well as cultivating new programs where the need is great.

Mel Gosselin of the New Hampshire Food Bank said a minivan would be great to help with their Production Gardens program to transport produce, volunteers and tools. This would be great for them and would free up their fleet of trucks to deliver more food to agencies across the state.

Please vote for these food banks! Help them get a vehicle to get more food to more people.

Thanks Anthony – I made the changes in the post. Good luck. I wish there was not two food banks going against each other on the same day.
