People in your county are going hungry

April 4, 2011

Feeding America President and CEO Vicki Escarra begins her latest Huffington Post piece:

“Last week, Feeding America released Map the Meal Gap, a groundbreaking study of hunger at the county level. And guess what the research showed… Hunger exists in every single county and every congressional district in the nation.”

“Until now, hunger research has only captured food insecurity at the state level, making it harder for local organizations to target hunger in their communities. The Map the Meal Gap research will be instrumental in helping local organizations develop strategies and identify solutions that most effectively and efficiently get help to their hungry neighbors.”

Read “People in your county are going hungry” and check out the Map the Meal Gap map to see what food insecurity looks like in your community, state and across the nation.

Good morning,

This is Tuong-Chau Cai from The Greater Boston Food Bank. There might have been an error on this page and I apogolize before hand if that isn’t the case.

In the last paragraph, the link reads: Read “People in your conty are going hungry”, I believe the letter “u” is missing and you meant for it to read “county” not “conty’?

Thank you Tuong-Chau! The correction has been made.

Thank you Doug, for your comment, support and generosity. Sending positive thoughts your way – best of luck with the fight!

I hate to be honest but it seems like we had to invent the word “food insecurity” so america could have some hunger stats too. Hunger here is not hunger there.
