Explore food insecurity rates in your community: Map the Meal Gap research launches

March 24, 2011

We have been counting down the days and the moment is officially here. At 2:00 p.m. EST, the Feeding America Map the Meal Gap research launched at: http://feedingamerica.org/mapthegap

See what food insecurity looks like in your county, in your state and across the country. You may see a few things that surprise you. How many people in your community are food insecure but above the 185 percent threshold of poverty, and therefore ineligible for government programs like SNAP, WIC or child hunger programs? How much does the average cost of a meal for you differ from the national average – how do you think it affects food insecurity among your neighbors?

At Feeding America we’re excited to help get the county talking about these questions and more with the Map the Meal Gap. If you are discussing the research in your social spaces, please check out yesterday’s post: Map the Meal Gap cheat sheet: Everything you need to know. Thank you so much for all of your support!
