Imagine having to tell your kindergartner that you know she’s hungry, but you just don’t have anything to feed her–for two days. This is a very real, and very distressing scenario that a family in Comstock Park, Michigan and millions of other food-insecure families face when the free and reduce-priced school meals they rely on during the school year are unavailable in the summer months.
On the Huffington Post today, Feeding America President and CEO Vicki Escarra writes about Child Nutrition Reauthorization and how a current bill canhelp feed millions of children facing summer hunger.

Today’s Hunger Action Month way to get involved is to find your local food bank. Year-round, there are volunteer opportunities and events happening right in your backyard. The Hunger Wall, a new addition to downtown Boise’s streetscape, has been constructed collaboratively by nonprofit, government, for-profit and volunteer groups to emanate a single message: Hunger Affects Everyone.
