Listening is an act of kindness
April 8, 2010
“Listen to the hungry. Their stories connect us.”
These are the words of award-winning photographer Michael Nye, as he addressed a room full of food bank leaders and hunger-relief partners on Thursday, April 8, during Feeding America’s Network Summit in Lost Pines, Texas.
We had the privilege of hosting Michael Nye and his “About Hunger & Resilience” exhibit here this year.
Michael first became connected with hunger through Eric Cooper, Executive Director of the San Antonio Food Bank, one of Feeding America’s member food banks. Since that time, he has devoted his work to collecting portraits and audio stories that reveal the real-life stories of people who experience hunger.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Michael at the Lost Pines event and you can watch our conversation.
